He loves to drink tea, eat takoyaki, drive his editor, whom he affectionately calls "Miichan", to tears by feigning the non-completion of his work, sleep late, and smoke cigarettes.
He's a jokester who occasionally gives advice or purposely stirs up controversy for the good of everyone in the end.

avoiding the possible worse
I'm telling you. If this heat continues up to May I'll be forced to buy an air-conditioner -- Aircons equipped with heaters too. It's awfully cold inside this house during winter. But first things first.
"Tohru? Do we still have some flavored drinks in the refrigerator?" I hope so.It's really hot inside my room. The breeze is stuffy too. Instead for a cool breeze, all I get is warm air from outside. I am somewhat affected by this simple matter. That's the point. It's a simple problem. Yet, why can't I do something about it. Soueba... I found out from my TV that the Earth is not getting warmer but trends show that it's getting cooler. I don't know, the datas don't seem to add up.
"Hai. There's still some leftover lemonade in the freezer. Here. Haaah. It's quite hot in here, don't you think?" You betcha'.
"Yeah, it's so hot, I think I'm going to strip..."
"WHAH?!"
"SHIGURE!" Yuki and Kyo suddenly showed up. Where have they been anyway?
"Boys, boys. Let me finish. Calm down. I was just going to tell Tohru that I am going to strip down our expenses from leisure and non- necessities. You know, take it easy eating outside and... ugh, I sorta don't like to tell you guys." I am really conscious during these topics.
"Huh?" Tohru querried.
"Somehow, I want you guys to have fun at the same time save enough money to buy an aircon / heater. I'm planning to install one in my room. I can't work properly with this forsaken heat. It's still March and, you know, it'll get hotter during April and May. And then when winter comes, you get the idea."
"Oh. I'm sorry. I guess I've been asking so much for Shigure-san and I got carried away. Don't worry, Shigure-san, if you want I could pay you back for my stuff inside my room, help you buy that aircon, better yet, pay my rent from now on." I knew it! I am so sorry, Tohru! I knew I should've kept my mouth close. I don't want her or anybody to be concerned with me and money. This is really embarrassing.
"No, you don't have to do that. Like always, you can stay here, as long as you want, for free. You can count on me." Just keep quiet and write, Shigure-san.
"If you want, I could apply for a part- time job, Shigure." Yuki suggested.
"..." silly, Kyo.
I couldn't let them work. If the Sohma Main House finds out that Yuki-kun has part- time job, the main house will believe that I am no longer able to support Yuki-kun. It's a good excuse for Akito-san to let Yuki-kun return to her side. She'll beat him up twenty- four seven.
If Kyo-kun works for a part- time job, Kazuma will go back here and will take Kyo-kun away. It would be really awkward if I were to live with Tohru-kun alone. Oh boy, the main house will stir up some stories about me. Everybody will avoid me! Hatori and Ayame will be disgusted! Everybody will hate me! Yuki-kun and Kyo-kun will probably kill me.
With my compilations on the bookstore shelves, I'll be able to remedy this fluke. I am making enough money for other expenditures. A mere airconditioner shouldn't get in my head. Heck, it shouldn't get in anyone's head either."NOOOOO!!!" I guess I was thinking too much of the premises.
"Ehh? Shigure? Are you okay?" Yuki looked at me.
Back to reality. "Ehem. No, you guys. You don't have to work. Let's just forget what I've said earlier. Now, do me a favor and I want you three to have fun. Leave it to me. I will find a way to deal with this matter. " I'm not saying that they can't work. Not yet. I'm saying that if they're going to work, their sweat and effort should be for their own and not for me.
"It'll be fine."
